Emeralites, Manveer Pratap Rathore and Punya Khemani of Class-X were the ESL Champions of the International Competition for Young Debaters 2024 (ICYD)

We are very proud to share that Emeralites, Manveer Pratap Rathore and Punya Khemani of Class-X were the ESL Champions of the International Competition for Young Debaters 2024 (ICYD), where around 52 teams from more than 15 countries participated.

Manveer Pratap Rathore and Punya Khemani represented Indian Contingent Team at the ICYD, held at the Oxford Union, United Kingdom on 20th April 2024.

Our international debaters, Manveer and Punya defeated Canada in the Finals in English Second Language category. In this competition, multiple rigourous rounds were held all across the world, with the top teams participating at ICYD Finals Day. In the regional selection round, our team was selected among the four teams for the Oxford, in which over 300 top students were competing.

Additionally, Manveer Pratap Rathore and Punya Khemani were both Top-10 ESL speakers at the competition. Manveer was also the 5th best Novice speaker.

ICYD is the world’s largest Under-15 debate competition, hosted by the Cambridge and Oxford Unions alternatingly.
The competition was in the British Parliamentary format and had motions from various fields like social movements, politics, and international relations. The competition enabled students to give out insightful arguments on issues of international importance and engage in meaningful debates with individuals from all across the world.
