Emerald Heights hosted Padma Vibhushan Shri Viswanathan Anand Indian Chess Grandmaster

The Emerald Heights International School had the distinct honour of hosting a felicitation ceremony, graced by the presence of Padma Vibhushan Shri Viswanathan Anand, an Indian Chess Grandmaster, as the Chief Guest.
 

The event, held on 29 March 2025, commenced with a beautiful Ganesh Vandana, creating a warm and respectful atmosphere for the gathering. The event progressed with the presentation of awards to recognize the remarkable achievements of individuals in the school.

The highlight of the ceremony was the address given by Padma Vibhushan Shri Viswanathan Anand. He eloquently underscored the significance of learning languages as a means to embrace cultural diversity. He shared his belief that every piece of knowledge acquired throughout life is invaluable and can be utilized in various ways. He stressed the importance of co-curricular activities, encouraging attendees to make effective use of their time. He also highlighted that while physical games are beneficial, intellectual pursuits, such as chess and public speaking, are equally vital for personal development. Emphasizing resilience, he urged everyone to persist in their efforts, reassuring them that it is acceptable not to succeed at first. He shared his unique approach to chess, explaining how he varies his opening moves to maintain unpredictability, which serves as a metaphor for adaptability in learning. Lastly, he expressed his admiration for the dedication and hard work demonstrated by all the achievers for their outstanding achievements.
The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Shri Viswanathan Anand for sparing his valuable time and sharing invaluable insight.
