More Than Music: Discovering the Careers Behind Every Song, a Music Careers Session Led by Mr Nilesh Thomas, Chief Academic Officer, Future School of Performing Arts, Goa

What does it take to bring a song from an idea to an audience? Students at Emerald Heights explored this question during a Music Careers Session organised by Takshashila – The Centre for Career and Global Studies and led by Mr Nilesh Thomas, Chief Academic Officer, Future School of Performing Arts, Goa.

Through role cards, students discovered careers ranging from composers and session musicians to music lawyers, booking agents, venue programmers, sound engineers and music therapists. An interactive song-making activity demonstrated how diverse professionals collaborate throughout the creative process, while “2 Truths and a Myth” challenged common misconceptions about careers in music.
The session encouraged students to look beyond performance and discover the many creative, technical and professional possibilities within the music industry, broadening their understanding of where a passion for music can lead.
