Emeralites, Yashika Rajdev and Yana Raheja, Recently Returned From an Unforgettable Round Square Exchange to Brookhouse International School, Nairobi

Emeralites Yashika Rajdev and Yana Raheja recently returned from an unforgettable Round Square Exchange to Brookhouse International School, Nairobi (31 May – 26 June), where they immersed themselves in the rich and welcoming culture of Kenya.

From life in the Brookhouse boarding house to heart-warming days with a host family, every moment taught them something new—whether it was dressing in traditional attire, trying local dishes like ugali, participating in school clubs and activities, or understanding the heartbeat of Kenyan daily life.

A defining experience was their Community Service Week in Oltepesi, where they renovated a school, connected deeply with the local children, and discovered that service is not just about giving—but about growing.

They explored the city, Nairobi National Park, visited the Giraffe Centre, National Museum and appreciated the beauty of African wildlife, music, language, and traditions.

But beyond the adventures, it was the classroom discussions, shared laughter, and meaningful friendships that left a lasting impact. They return home not just with souvenirs, but with lifelong connections, new perspectives, and a deeper appreciation for global unity through diversity.

Here’s to expanding horizons, building bridges, and carrying the spirit of Round Square wherever we go.
