Indore’s young chess talent, Emeralite Avika Panwar of Class XI, has brought global recognition to the city by securing an outstanding Second Place at the international level in the prestigious 22nd International Solving Contest (ISC) 2026, organised by the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC) on 25 January 2026.
ISC 2026 was conducted simultaneously across multiple countries. This year, the event witnessed participation from 952 contestants across 59 centres in 26 countries. India recorded the highest participation, with 383 players competing in the contest.
From Indore alone, 34 participants took part in the competition, with 6 in Category 1, 11 in Category 2, and 17 in Category 3. The event in Indore was successfully conducted under the guidance of International Master Akshat Khamparia and Dr. Sunil Somani.
