Education, the most powerful tool one can use to change the world! But is it true? While contemporary education might provide us with various academic qualifications, it fails to address some of the most pressing concerns of the present generation. Issues like climate change, overpopulation, racism, and poverty cannot be solved by reading textbooks; these problems demand action, action that cannot be provided unless students are sensitized to the extremity of the current global scenario.
Emerald Heights has always believed in ACTION; therefore, to ensure our students grow as global citizens, the school introduced the community service program in collaboration with Anhad Pravah. During the 45 hours program spanning three months, students analyzed problems in the current era ranging from environmental to economic as well as social. The students visited real-life locations to gain in-depth knowledge of the issues concerning the people, this led to them not only devising solutions to their agendas but also implementing them.
Performance deserves credit; our hostellers’ enthusiasm for the program was matchless, and their involvement played a significant role in the success of the program. They rose above the norm, truly embodying the spirit of ‘Service for the Community’.
On the last day of the program, the students visited a slum close to the school and realized the truth about the perpetuity and proximity of problems. They were also exposed to the various initiatives undertaken by the school, including solar panels, water harvesting systems, and a water filtration plant. These experiences helped expand the students’ understanding of service to the community.
Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone, this program would not have been such a resounding success without the efforts of numerous people, the students and the parents being the paramount!!!
Through such endeavors, the school ventures forth with its mission to provide a holistic development to the students.
