NCB Organises Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse at Emerald Heights

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in its endeavor to sensitize students against the ill effects of drug abuse, its Indore Zonal Unit organises an awareness programme at the Emerald Heights International School on April 11, 2018.

Shri Varun Kapoor, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) addressed the students of classes IX to XII regarding the harmful effects of drugs and spread the message of mental and physical health that comes with drug abuse. He urged the students to stay away from drugs as the drug suppliers target college and school students first. The students were enlightened by short film related to drug abuse.

Youth in our country is especially vulnerable to this menace. Drug abuse along with the abuse of alcohol coupled with smoking of tobacco products is taking a heavy toll on the health of the youth. It entails not only health costs but also economic and social costs. To summarize, the spread of drug abuse among the youth has starting hurting the foundation of our society. Shri Kapoor also apprised the audience about the role of NCB in fighting drug abuse in India.
